Hello, my name is Cristina and I'm 20 years old.
I'm not sure how you got to this page, if this is the first page of mine you're seeing or if you came here from my Epidermolysis Bullosa website, or maybe my Cristina's Castle site, but in any case, below you will find out a little about me!
As you may know, I was born with a severe genetic skin disorder called Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa. I'd like to say it's not a big part of my life and it doesn't stop me from doing things, but it is and it does. It is a constant battle that includes daily medical care that can take hours. I am lucky to have the support of my family, especially my mom who helps me with my bandage changes and other daily chores. I do, however, keep a positive attitude, and while EB may keep me from doing some things I want to, it never stops me from trying. I will give anything a try and I always keep a long list of goals and dreams. I do the best with what I was given and I look at EB as a chance to learn and grow, never as a punishment or bad luck. It's made me who I am and for that I am thankful. Click here to learn more about my life with EB.
I work very hard on my Epidermolysis Bullosa website in hopes to help others with EB, new parents of EB children and to educate the rest of the world about this disorder. Plus it's a fun hobby to make these webpages! ;) It's one of the things that keeps me going and makes me feel like I have a purpose. It's something I can do even on the many days I am weak because I can just sit in my computer chair and type and click.

I currently live with my mom; Cindi, my shih-tzu; Simba and my cat; Jasmine in Southern California.
My biological dad; Lalo, who is Mexican, lives in Virginia with his wife and kids. He calls often and visits atleast once a year. He is a wonderful person and cares about me a lot. It can be hard at times with the language barrier, as he does not speak much English and I don't know Spanish. I grew up with my mom who is white. Although she learned to speak Spanish pretty well when she met my dad, we never spoke it in the house because my parents divorced when I was only two. My father had a hard time understanding and accepting my skin disorder but my parents still remain good friends.
I also have a step-dad; David, who raised me and I consider my dad. My mom and dad divorced when I was 14 and it was extremely hard on all of us. Me and my mom now live in California (We moved from Las Vegas) It's just us two now and we are very close.
I also have an awesome brother; Jose. He is 6 years older than me and is moving to Texas with his wonderful girlfriend Monica. He has been working at the Pentagon. He started work there after he finished in the Air Force. He left to join the Air Force when I was only in 6th grade and since then I only get to see him every couple years. I miss him a lot and look forward to his calls and visits. Ateast Texas will be a lot closer than Maryland. In case you're wondering me and Jay have the same mom but different dads. His dad is Puerto Rican. Am I confusing you yet?
I can't go on listing my whole family like my grandparents, my aunt, uncles, all my friends, and especially my EB family full of other people my age, children, and mothers who go through the same experiences and struggles as me dealing with EB. Though most I have never met in person, only online and the rest I only get to see once or twice a year, it's such a comfort to be able to talk to them and I will always be greatful to have that chance. Without the internet things would be tough for a lot of people.
Well that's my family!
As you can see I've totally redone and updated this page, I hope you like it.
and
I like to write poetry and because of the fact I want to publish my poems along with my close friend and fellow poet Novelette (who also has EB), I do not want to put all my poems up in fears someone might steal them. Besides why buy the book when you can read them all on my site for free ;) However, it won't hurt to post a few so I will be putting a couple up soon.
I recently started a diary/journal/blog page. Click here to see it.

Like I said, I have a dog and cat. They're one of the most important things in my life, they're part of the family for sure. I could not live without pets. They keep me company and give me a reason to get out of bed and go outside. A favorite thing to do for us is I walk my dog using my electric wheelchair and my cat can't stand being away from my dog so she scampers behind us meowing. It's definately a site to see! I tried putting her in my lap but she will have no part in being on or in a moving vehicle, hehe. My cat and dog are like brother and sister!
My dogs name is Simba, yes he's named after a cat, the lion in The Lion King. My cat Jasmine is named after the princess in Aladdin. She certainly acts like a princess. She is gray striped and proudly wears her purple collar with purple bow. I don't know many cats who love wearing a collar as much as she does. She's about 5 years old, my dog is about 7.
My family had a dog, another shih-tzu named Gizmo who is the most intelligent, wonderful dog. We got him when I was about 8, my first dog. He now lives with my step-dad in Las Vegas. He's 11 years old. When I was 13 or 14 I decided to save up and buy my own dog and I picked out Simba. He is a great friend and so huggable. He likes hugs and kisses. His tongue is always going, licking the air or even the furniture if there's nothing else to lick. He sleeps when I sleep (which is much of the time), follows me to every room and hates when I leave the house.
I will be making a webpage for each of them and started Jasmine's already, you can visit it by clicking here.
